Harran University Faculty of Medicine was established by the Council of Ministers Decision dated 07.07.1992 and numbered 3837, which was published in the number 21281 of the Official Gazeten dated 11 July 1992.
Following the establishment in 1992, a protocol was signed with the Ministry of Health and a part of the State Hospital was decided to be allocated to the Medical Faculty for use as a Research and Application Hospital for student education. Outpatient and inpatient services started to be provided in 1994 after the repair and renovation works.
The faculty started teaching with 20 students in 1995. The first graduation was in 2001.
Integrated education system is applied in the faculty and the first three classes are taught as course committees. In the 4th and 5th classes clinical internships are given while in the 6th year internship education (applied medical education) is given.
Our curriculum is structured to cover the Core Training Program of the Turkish Medical Health Sciences Education Council (UÇEP-2014); in addition, our course credits and grade passing scores are in line with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
In our faculty, practical training are carried out in our modern laboratories as well as theoretical lessons.  Practical training for the students of Term I, II and III is given in Multidisciplinary, Basic Skills, Anatomy, Molecular Genetics, Medical Genetics, Medical Physiology, Biophysics, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology Laboratories.
Vision and Mission
Our main goal is to educate our students as physicians who have attained the attitudes and behaviors of the medical profession in respect of human life and who have gained the ability to know the health problems of our country and have the ability to produce
solutions to these problems as well as to equip them with the knowledge and skills that can contribute to our country and world science.
Education-Training Staff and Strong Infrastructure
As of today, there are 18 Professors, 24 Associate Professors, 69 Assistant Professors, 1 Instructor, 4 Specialists in our faculty. A total of 112 teaching staff and 148 assistant doctors are in a modern research and treatment hospital in SANLIURFA.
Harran University Medical Faculty Research and Application Hospital, which is the most modern and equipped hospital in Şanlıurfa and region, has been opened to service and its students are equipped with modern infrastructure, contemporary facilities, patient and education oriented policies and modern devices to apply current and scientific medicine to the students of the Faculty of Medicine, specialists and faculty members.

Social and Cultural Activities
At our faculty, various student clubs operate under the coordination of our faculty members. In this context, apart from the lessons, you can also give important contributions to the development of your society besides your personal development by taking time for culture, art and other social activities.
Our students have begun to study in the comfortable new morphology building and Research and Practice Hospital, which is suitable for today's conditions in Osmanbey settlement.
Our faculty has given 485 medical graduates, which we are proud of to this day. Now, a total of 706 students are active in education and 2016-2017 Education-Academic Year, with the exam made by OSYM, 113 students choose our faculty and they are continuing their education life successfully by winning the privilege of Harran Medical Faculty.
Exchange Programs in our Faculty
Via the ERASMUS program, about 8 students every year to study at various universities in European countries such as England, Germany, Italy, France and Lithuania in order to carry out study and internship activities. Our students have the opportunity to become familiar with the medical and healthcare systems in their countries, develop their language, make friends from different countries and cultures, and benefit from these unique experiences in their later career planning. The horizons have developed in their countries and their perspectives have changed and they are returning openly to become universal medical doctors. The Erasmus Coordinator of the Faculty of Medicine, which is affiliated to the Erasmus Office of our university, opens its doors to all our students who are willing to help us, from the application stage to the return stage, and the number of students benefiting from the program is increasing every year.
In order to benefit from the ERASMUS program, the average of the undergraduate grade is 2.20, the average of the graduate and doctoral grades is 2.50 or above, and it is necessary to get 50 points or more from the language proficiency exam that will be done in our university.
The Farabi Exchange Program is a program that allows exchange of students among higher education institutions that have a protocol agreement between them. Farabi Coordinator of the Faculty of Medicine, which is affiliated to our university's Farabi Coordinator, carries out studies for the exchange of students among the 52 universities in our country which have been protocol between us. Student exchange can be a semester (fall) or 2 semesters (fall + spring) with a period of scholarship.
